We are seeking an experienced veterinary technician WITH surgical experience. At least 2-3 years of veterinary technician experience required
WITH SURGERY EXPERIENCE.
This is an "experienced" role. Must work well in a team but be proficient enough to work individually. We are open the following hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 8-5 Thursday 8-12 & Every other Saturday 9-12 The weekend and Thursday shifts are rotated and works as follows: You will have every other Thursday afternoon off & every third weekend off. Typically if you had Thursday afternoon off, you work the weekend and vice versa. Veterinary Technician Duties include but are not limited to:- Performing diagnostic tests, running in house laboratory samples and X-rays.
- Able to perform phlebotomy on canines and felines.
- Administering medications, subcutaneous/intramuscular injections and treatments at the discretion of the veterinarian.
- Providing emergency first aid or general nursing care. Ability to respond in an emergency situation.
- Observing and reporting on the behavior and condition of animals.
Includes basic kennel skills:
feeding, walking and medicating animals. Cleaning cages and giving medications when necessary. Individual will be expected to work in rotation on the weekends tending to boarding patients.- Restraining animals for examination or treatment, both canine and feline. Must have experience handling animals in veterinary setting.
- Preparing animals for surgery including: administering pre-anesthetic medications, proficient in IV catheter placement, preparing and cleaning instruments for surgery.
- Assists the doctor in medical, surgical and dental procedures; prepares patients for surgery; assists the doctor in administering anesthesia; monitors patients during surgery and recovery; administers fluids.
- Collecting and recording animal case histories.
- Educating animal owners on home care, treatment plans, preventative care and vaccination awareness.
- Will be required to perform receptionist duties as well such as: answering phones, creating appointments, checking in/out clients, filing, chart labeling, patient call backs and any other client communication.
- Housekeeping duties apply including: prepares and maintains the exam rooms and treatment areas, sweeping/mopping rooms if needed.
