Job Description

Actively Interviewing for Animal Lab Technician to join pharmaceutical client in Bogart, GA! Job Description The Protein Production Unit (PPU) Technician I provides daily care and health monitoring for animals used in protein production, ensuring their well-being and supporting compliant operations in a controlled facility. This role follows standard operating procedures and good documentation practices while organizing, cleaning, and maintaining production rooms, supplies, and equipment for egg-laying animals. Responsibilities Provide daily care and health monitoring of animals, ensuring their well-being and adherence to established care standards. Sanitize animal rooms, enclosures, equipment, corridors, and support areas using appropriate techniques to promote animal health and welfare and to comply with regulations and internal policies. Provide nutrition to animals by supplying appropriate feed and water according to established schedules and procedures. Organize and maintain animal enclosures, supplies, and equipment to ensure a clean, safe, and efficient working environment. Assess animal health status by observing animals, gathering data, and accurately documenting findings. Initiate and maintain records as prescribed by standard operating procedures, ensuring complete and accurate documentation. Collect and record operational and animal-related data to support effective management of the facility. Handle and restrain animals using appropriate techniques to allow care and procedures to be performed safely and humanely. Provide weekend and/or holiday animal care coverage as needed to support continuous operations. Cross-train in all areas of the facility and provide coverage on an as-needed basis to support team flexibility and continuity. Oversee the packaging of waste materials sent out for incineration, ensuring proper procedures and safety protocols are followed. Receive and properly process incoming shipments of supplies and materials, including verification, documentation, and storage. Assist with special projects as needed to support facility operations and continuous improvement initiatives. Essential Skills Experience working in a laboratory animal facility or performing work in a current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) environment, with a minimum of one year of relevant experience. Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and their application in a controlled facility. Practical experience in animal care, including feeding, watering, observation, and basic health monitoring. Ability to follow standard operating procedures and good documentation practices with strong attention to detail. Capability to handle and restrain animals safely and humanely using appropriate techniques. Competence in cleaning and sanitizing animal rooms, equipment, and support areas according to established protocols. Ability to collect, record, and maintain accurate data and records in compliance with procedural and regulatory requirements. High school diploma (HS Diploma) or equivalent. Additional Skills & Qualifications Associate or bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred. Previous experience in a protein production or similar regulated environment is beneficial. Strong organizational skills for managing enclosures, supplies, and equipment. Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-trained team environment and provide coverage in multiple functional areas. Willingness to work weekends and holidays as needed to support continuous animal care. Comfort with handling waste materials and following safety procedures for packaging and disposal. Strong communication skills for documenting observations and coordinating with team members. Work Environment This role operates in a controlled laboratory animal facility that supports protein production activities. The work schedule runs from Sunday through Thursday, 7:45 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with additional weekend or holiday coverage as needed. The environment includes animal rooms, production rooms for egg layers, corridors, and support areas that require regular cleaning and sanitization. Team members work with animal enclosures, feed and water systems, and facility equipment under cGMP and regulatory standards. The position involves handling animals, managing supplies and incoming shipments, and overseeing waste packaging for incineration, all within a structured, process-driven setting focused on safety, compliance, and animal welfare. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Bogart, GA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $18.00/hr.
