Description Build Georgia's Next Premier Cardiology Service Dogwood Veterinary Specialty and Emergency | Dunwoody, Georgia 4500 N. Shallowford Rd, Dunwoody, GA 30338 | Opening October 2026 Dogwood Veterinary Specialty and Emergency is expanding with a brand-new specialty and emergency hospital in Dunwoody , following the success of our established Marietta location. We're seeking experienced Veterinary Technicians, Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVTs), and skilled Veterinary Assistants to join our founding Cardiology team and help establish a specialty service focused on advanced medicine, exceptional nursing care, and meaningful patient outcomes . Selected team members will receive paid onboarding and specialty training at our Marietta hospital before transitioning to Dunwoody. Schedule 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM | Full-Time Daytime Schedule Why Veterinary Cardiology? Cardiology combines advanced diagnostics, critical thinking, precision nursing, and meaningful relationships with patients and families. You'll have the opportunity to support patients with: Congestive heart failure (CHF) Arrhythmias and cardiac emergencies Congenital and acquired heart disease Chronic cardiac conditions requiring ongoing management High-acuity patients requiring advanced monitoring and intervention If you enjoy complex cases, advanced diagnostics, and specialty medicine , Cardiology offers an opportunity to grow your skills while making a meaningful difference in patient care. Experienced veterinary professionals joining our founding Cardiology team may qualify for a sign-on bonus based on experience, credentialing, and skillset. $6,000 for eligible Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVTs) with strong Cardiology, Specialty, or advanced veterinary nursing experience $1,000 for eligible experienced Veterinary Technicians or Veterinary Assistants with strong experience supporting Cardiology, Specialty Medicine, Anesthesia, or complex patient care Sign-on bonus eligibility varies based on qualifications and is not available to all applicants. Your Impact as a Veterinary Cardiology Technician Advanced Cardiology Nursing and Patient Care As a Cardiology Technician, you'll serve as an essential member of the specialty team.
You'll:
Support cardiologists during consultations and patient evaluations Provide nursing care for hospitalized and outpatient cardiac patients Monitor patient comfort, treatment response, and disease progression Support chronic disease management and long-term care Educate clients about medications, treatment plans, and home care Advocate for patients throughout their care journey Cardiac Diagnostics and Procedures You'll support advanced cardiac diagnostics, including: Echocardiography (cardiac ultrasound) ECG and rhythm monitoring Holter monitor placement and data collection Advanced cardiac diagnostics and patient preparation Accurate medical record and diagnostic documentation Monitoring and Anesthesia Support You'll assist with: Patient preparation for procedures Anesthesia induction and recovery High-risk cardiac patient monitoring ECG, pulse oximetry, capnography, and blood pressure monitoring Recognizing and communicating changes in patient status Emergency and Specialty Collaboration Cardiac patients often require support across multiple services. You'll collaborate with Emergency and Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Surgery and Anesthesia, Diagnostic Imaging, and other specialty teams to support: Cardiac emergencies and stabilization CHF crises and arrhythmia management CPR and emergency response Continuity of care across departments Who We're Looking For We're looking for veterinary professionals who bring technical confidence, curiosity, and a passion for specialty medicine. 2+ years of veterinary hospital experience Strong foundation in veterinary nursing and patient care Experience with venipuncture, IV catheter placement, medication administration, laboratory diagnostics, and patient monitoring Experience in one or more of the following: Emergency Medicine Specialty Medicine Internal Medicine ICU/Critical Care Surgery and Anesthesia High-volume General Practice Strong communication and client education skills Ability to remain organized and effective in a fast-paced clinical environment Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) Previous Veterinary Cardiology experience Echocardiography or cardiac ultrasound experience ECG or Holter monitoring experience Advanced anesthesia monitoring experience Emergency, Critical Care, or Internal Medicine experienceRECOVER CPR
Certification Physical Requirements and Working Environment This role requires the ability to: Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and remain active throughout the workday Safely lift, carry, and assist with patients weighing up to 50 pounds , with assistance available for larger patients Safely handle patients of varying sizes, temperaments, and medical conditions Perform repetitive clinical tasks requiring manual dexterity, including venipuncture, catheter placement, ECG placement, medication administration, and patient monitoring Move efficiently between Cardiology, ICU, Emergency, Imaging, and treatment areas Communicate effectively with specialists, veterinarians, clients, and team members This position may involve exposure to animal dander, bodily fluids, sharps, cleaning products, disinfectants, anesthetic gases, medical equipment, and the normal sights, sounds, and odors of a specialty and emergency hospital.
