Responsibilities Assist veterinarians with clinical procedures including animal restraint, IV insertion, anesthesia monitoring, and surgical assistance. Perform laboratory work such as blood draws, phlebotomy, diagnostic testing, and radiology diagnostics to support accurate diagnoses. Operate medical equipment like X-ray machines, anesthesia monitors, and laboratory analyzers with precision and adherence to aseptic techniques. Handle animal restraint and handling for various species including dogs, cats, and equines, ensuring safety for animals and staff. Administer medications via injections or other routes while monitoring animal responses during critical & intensive care situations. Support emergency medicine efforts by assisting with urgent procedures, vascular access, and critical patient stabilization. Maintain detailed veterinary records using veterinary software to document treatments, procedures, and client communications clearly. Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding pet care instructions, treatment plans, and follow-up needs to foster trust and understanding. Experience Previous veterinary technician experience or related animal care background is preferred; enthusiasm for learning is essential. Kennel experience or pet grooming skills are a plus for supporting overall pet well-being. Familiarity with veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic radiology enhances your effectiveness in this role. Experience with laboratory work such as blood testing or radiology diagnostics will set you apart. Skills in dog handling, pet care routines, anesthesia administration (including general anesthesia), and emergency medicine are highly valued. Ability to operate medical equipment safely and efficiently while following aseptic techniques is required. Certification or training in veterinary anesthesia monitoring or veterinary surgical assistance is advantageous but not mandatory; ongoing training opportunities are available for growth.
