Duties Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and monitoring anesthesia using veterinary anesthesia monitoring techniques. Perform animal restraint and handling with confidence, ensuring safety for both animals and staff. Conduct laboratory work including phlebotomy, diagnostic radiology, and veterinary laboratory testing to support accurate diagnoses. Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments following veterinary protocols while maintaining aseptic technique. Operate medical equipment such as X-ray machines, dental units, and other diagnostic tools to facilitate comprehensive pet care. Support pet grooming, pet care routines, and animal husbandry tasks to promote overall health and comfort. Maintain detailed records using veterinary software for patient histories, treatment plans, and laboratory results. Skills Proven kennel experience with a strong understanding of animal husbandry practices. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, and anatomy to assist effectively in clinical settings. Experience with dental terminology, veterinary critical care, emergency medicine, and general anesthesia management. Skilled in IV insertion, vascular access, animal catheterization, and anesthesiology procedures. Familiarity with diagnostic radiology techniques including X-ray operation and radiology diagnostics. Ability to handle dogs confidently through dog training techniques and animal handling skills; adept at animal restraint in various situations. Competent in laboratory procedures such as phlebotomy and veterinary laboratory work; experienced with medical equipment operation. Excellent client communication skills to explain procedures clearly and provide pet care guidance. Experience working with veterinary software systems to document patient information accurately.
