We Are Looking For:
Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician Day and Overnight shift available, shift differentials in addition to base pay for hours worked outside normal business times. This position has an initial hiring range of $26
  • 42 per hour based on skillset and experience.
Are you a driven individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment? Our ER team is seeking talented Veterinary Technicians to join our growing dynamic clinical team. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to work alongside experienced critical care specialists, emergency doctors and compassionate technicians, providing sophisticated care to critical patients. No two days are the same in Emergency, offering you constant excitement and challenges! Our patients need constant supervision to ensure treatment plans are being executed. As a separate entity within our hospital, the ER Unit collaborates closely with all departments to provide exceptional care to our critically ill patients. What you'll do: Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather additional information as necessary Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment. Collaborate with the care team regarding treatment plans and client needs, and nursing care concerns. Provide client education, including comprehensive instructions for home care, medication details (indications, potential side effects), and guidance, and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients. Assist Veterinarians with patient assessment, treatment and procedures Ensure thorough monitoring and attentive care for all hospitalized patients. Administer and closely monitor anesthesia and sedation protocols Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing Who you are: Additional requirements for this position include:
Patient Care Skills:
We are seeking a compassionate Critical Care Technician with exceptional patient care skills. Your demonstrated ability to perform various procedures, including cystocentesis and urinary catheterization in male dogs, shows your commitment to providing optimal care. Proficiency in manual intermittent positive pressure ventilation and nasal oxygen catheter insertion highlights your dedication to maintaining respiratory health. Your knowledge of ocular diagnostic tests, feeding tube placement, wound management, and suturing techniques will greatly contribute to our patients' well-being.
Medical Records and Pharmacology Skills:
Attention to detail and accuracy are crucial in medical records and pharmacology. Your ability to record medical information accurately and understand controlled substance regulations will ensure compliance and safe medication practices. Your expertise in calculating and dispensing medications, including understanding compatibility and fluid dosages, will contribute to effective patient care. Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
Advanced Critical Care Skills:
Your knowledge and recognition of signs of shock will allow for timely interventions. Your expertise in performing advanced procedures such as catheterizations, sampling lines, blood product component therapy, and inhalant anesthesia will contribute to the best possible patient outcomes. Your ability to provide CPR, resuscitate neonates, manage mechanical ventilators, and care for patients with tracheostomy tubes and undergoing dialysis will make a significant impact on our critical care unit.
Advanced Anesthesia Skills:
As an integral part of our team, you will excel in setting up and monitoring EtCO2 levels, analyzing capnographic waveforms, and maintaining meticulous anesthesia records. Your skillful use of warming devices ensures optimal patient comfort throughout procedures. With your exceptional ability to manage patients in all phases of anesthesia, administer anesthetic-related drugs, and calculate precise dosages, you will play a vital role in ensuring patient safety and well-being. Your expertise in assessing patient risk status and implementing appropriate anesthetic protocols for effective pain management will contribute to successful outcomes. By utilizing cutting-edge techniques and state-of-the-art equipment to monitor patients before, during, and after anesthesia, you will ensure the highest standard of care.
