Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal care and possess the necessary skills to assist veterinarians in providing high-quality medical care to our patients. This role requires a blend of technical knowledge, hands-on experience, and a commitment to ensuring the well-being of animals. Duties Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures. Perform routine laboratory tests and analyze results. Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian. Monitor animal vital signs and provide critical care when necessary. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient. Handle and restrain animals safely during examinations and procedures. Provide education to pet owners regarding animal care, nutrition, and preventive health measures. Ensure cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including sterilization of instruments using aseptic techniques. Participate in dental cleanings and understand dental terminology relevant to veterinary practices. Support kennel operations by caring for hospitalized animals, including feeding, grooming, and exercising them. Qualifications Previous veterinary technician experience is preferred; however, candidates with relevant animal handling or kennel experience will be considered. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and husbandry practices is essential. Experience with laboratory procedures, including blood draws and urinalysis. Familiarity with veterinary critical care protocols is a plus. Ability to perform animal catheterization and restraint techniques effectively. Experience with equine care or dog training is advantageous but not mandatory. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and team members.
