Job Overview Join our dynamic and compassionate team as a Mixed Animal Practice Veterinary Technician! In this energetic role, you will be the backbone of our veterinary team, providing essential technical support across a wide variety of species, including small animals and large animals such as horses. Your expertise will help ensure smooth clinic operations, deliver outstanding pet care, and support animal health through precise diagnostics, treatments, and patient management. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated technician eager to expand their skills in a fast-paced, collaborative environment dedicated to exceptional animal care. Responsibilities Assist veterinarian with clinical procedures across multiple species, including animal restraint, catheterization, and sample collection. Prepare animals for examinations and surgeries by performing animal husbandry tasks and maintaining a clean, sterile environment using aseptic techniques. Conduct laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostics to aid in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. Operate diagnostic equipment including X-ray machines and laboratory instruments while ensuring safety protocols are followed. Support dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and with cleaning, polishing, and oral examinations. Handle diverse animals confidently using strong animal handling skills, and proper restraint methods for safe procedures. Maintain thorough records of treatments, laboratory results, radiographs, and patient histories in compliance with clinic standards. Assist in critical care situations by monitoring vital signs, administering treatments under supervision, and providing compassionate animal care during recovery. 1-2 weekends a month on call to triage incoming emergency calls. Qualifications Current State of Kansas RVT license Proven experience along with animal husbandry skills for both small animals and large animals like horses. Strong understanding of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and veterinary critical care practices. Experience with laboratory procedures including sample collection and analysis; familiarity with X-ray operation is preferred. Ability to perform animal catheterization safely while maintaining aseptic technique standards. Excellent animal handling skills combined with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment supporting multiple species. Prior veterinary technician experience is preferred; enthusiasm for learning new skills across diverse disciplines is essential. Pay:
$17.00 - $25.00 per hour
