Job Description
Gulf South Veterinary Dental Specialties is looking for an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our growing team in-person at our New Orleans practice. We are a veterinary dental specialty practice dedicated to helping pets receive the highest-quality oral health care in a supportive, compassionate setting. Our team works closely with pet parents and referring veterinarians to provide thoughtful, individualized care. From consultations to advanced dental procedures, we believe every pet deserves careful attention, clear communication, and a team that treats each as if it were their own. This is a great opportunity for a technician who enjoys anesthesia, dentistry, surgery, client education, and being part of a focused specialty team. What You'll Do As a Veterinary Technician at GSVDS, you will play an important role in patient care, client support, and daily clinic flow.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist the veterinarian during examinations, dental procedures, oral surgery, and diagnostic imaging
- Prepare animals for procedures by restraining, administering medications, and collecting samples
- Monitor anesthesia, vital signs, and patient comfort throughout procedures
- Support recovery and post-treatment care
- Provide clear, compassionate communication to pet parents before and after procedures
- Maintain accurate medical records and document treatments thoroughly
- Clean, sterilize, and prepare surgical instruments, dental equipment, and treatment areas
- Help maintain a calm, organized, and welcoming clinic environment for patients, clients, and the team What We're Looking For
- Prior experience in a veterinary clinical setting is required
- Veterinary Technician certification or licensure, such as CVT, RVT, or LVT, will be highly considered
- Experience with anesthesia monitoring is strongly preferred
- Interest in dentistry, oral surgery, and specialty medicine
- Strong communication skills with clients, veterinarians, and team members
- Gentle, confident animal handling skills
- Detail-oriented approach to records, patient care, and daily workflow
