Veterinary Technician, Oncology (CVT/RVT/LVT) | $26-$31/hr + shift differential | Full-Time Benefits | Four 9-hour shifts or Three 12-hour shifts | West Springfield, MA Join Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital (VESH) as an Oncology Veterinary Technician and make a meaningful impact in the lives of pets and the people who love them. We're looking for a Certified Veterinary Technician with a passion for oncology, patient care, and collaboration. In this role, you'll work closely with our Oncology team providing advanced treatments, compassionate support, and exceptional nursing care to patients undergoing cancer treatment. Responsibilities include:
Perform patient intakes and obtain detailed medical histories Review treatment plans, cost estimates, medications, and discharge instructions with clients Assist veterinarians with patient exams, diagnostics, procedures, and chemotherapy administration Collect and prepare diagnostic samples including blood, urine, and fine needle aspirates Perform medical calculations and administer medications and treatments as prescribed Safely handle and administer chemotherapy agents according to hospital safety protocols Assist with radiographs, CT scans, ultrasound procedures, and patient positioning Monitor sedated patients during procedures and oversee safe recovery Deliver high-quality patient care while maintaining accurate medical records Collaborate closely with doctors and fellow technicians to ensure excellent patient outcomes Qualifications Certified Veterinary Technician required (CVT, RVT, or LVT) Active veterinary technician credential in Massachusetts required Previous oncology experience preferred Strong technical nursing skills and confidence in patient handling Ability to perform medical calculations and administer treatments accurately Excellent communication and client education skills Ability to thrive in a fast-paced specialty and emergency hospital environment Friendly, dependable, compassionate, and team-oriented approach Positive attitude with a strong commitment to hospital culture and collaboration Self-motivated, proactive, and willing to jump in wherever needed to support the team Eagerness to continue learning and growing within veterinary oncology Fluent English speaking and reading skills required About Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital (VESH) We are a 24-hour, VECCS Level 2 Certified, state-of-the-art Emergency + Specialty veterinary hospital.
