Job Description

Veterinary Technician 347 Littleton Road, Westford, MA 01886 From $22 an hour - Full-time From $22 an hour - Full-time Westford, MA privately-owned, small animal practice is seeking a skilled and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. You will work closely with our veterinarian and other staff to deliver exceptional medical care to our patients. The ideal candidate is highly organized, empathetic, and excels in both patient care and communication.
Key Responsibilities Patient Care & Triage:
Gather patient histories, record vital signs, and assess animals upon arrival.
Diagnostics:
Collect blood, urine, and fecal samples for in-house or reference laboratory testing. Take high-quality digital radiographs.
Anesthesia & Surgery:
Prepare surgical sites, sterilize instruments, and assist veterinarian during procedures. Safely administer and monitor anesthesia, keeping meticulous patient records.
Pharmacy & Treatments:
Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed. Place IV catheters and calculate medication dosages.
Client Communication:
Explain treatment plans, demonstrate proper at-home care, and update owners on patient status.
Hospital Maintenance:
Maintain a clean, sterile, and safe environment, including exam rooms and surgical areas.
Qualifications & Requirements Education:
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Technology preferred.
License/Certification:
Active MA certification as a Veterinary Technician (CVT), Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT), or Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT).
Experience:
2-3 years of clinical veterinary experience is preferred, though new graduates will be considered.
Skills:
Proficient in phlebotomy, IV catheter placement, and anesthetic monitoring.
Physical Demands:
Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and safely handle animals of all temperaments.
Pay:
From $22.00 per hour
