Veterinary Technician — General Practice (Wellness Focus) Homeward Bound Veterinary Services — Atwood Wellness Center (Bel Air, MD) Are you a skilled veterinary technician who loves building relationships with pets and their people — not just rushing from crisis to crisis? Our Atwood Wellness Center is looking for an experienced technician to join our compassionate, team-focused general practice. This role centers on wellness care, preventive medicine, and supporting sick visits in exam rooms , allowing you to use your technical skills while forming meaningful connections with clients and patients. About the Atwood Wellness Center Our Wellness Center was created to provide thoughtful, thorough preventive care in a calm, supportive environment. We focus on keeping pets healthy for life — from puppy and kitten visits through senior care — while maintaining the warm, family feel of a community practice. At Homeward Bound, pets are family… and so are our team members. What You'll Do As a General Practice Technician, you will be primarily room-based and client-facing, working closely with doctors during appointments. Core Responsibilities Obtain accurate patient histories Assist with wellness exams and preventive care visits Support sick appointments (GI, dermatology, ear infections, etc.) Administer vaccines and medications as directed Client education on preventive care, nutrition, and medications Prepare and maintain exam rooms Assist with diagnostics and minor procedures Maintain accurate medical records Provide compassionate handling of patients What Makes This Role Special Focus on preventive care and long-term relationships Opportunity to educate and empower pet owners Supportive, collaborative doctors Calm general practice environment Strong team culture with a true family feel Opportunity to make a meaningful impact every day Qualifications Experience required — this is not an entry-level position Previous veterinary technician experience in small animal practice Strong clinical and client communication skills Ability to multitask while maintaining attention to detail Comfort working directly with clients in exam rooms Compassionate, patient-centered approach Team-oriented mindset Credentialed technicians (RVT/LVT/CVT) are strongly preferred but not required for highly experienced candidates The Ideal Candidate You are: Warm, personable, and professional Confident in your technical skills Passionate about preventive medicine Calm and adaptable Reliable and accountable Excited to be part of a positive team culture About Homeward Bound Veterinary Services Homeward Bound is a locally owned, woman-led veterinary practice committed to exceptional medicine, compassionate care, and a supportive workplace.
