Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic team at Marriottsville Animal Hospital, an AAHA-accredited companion animal veterinary practice located in beautiful Howard County, Maryland. We are not your average veterinary clinic - we are passionate about animal well-being, and we go above and beyond to provide exceptional care to our furry patients. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and a strong understanding of veterinary practices. This role involves supporting veterinarians in providing high-quality medical care to animals, ensuring their comfort and safety during visits, and assisting with various tasks in a veterinary clinic setting. Licensure is NOT a requirement. Duties Provide high-quality nursing care for medical, surgical, and hospitalized patients Obtain patient histories, perform TPRs, assist with examinations, and monitor patient status Administer medications and treatments as prescribed (oral, injectable, IV, SQ, topical) Collect and process diagnostic samples (blood, urine, fecal, cytology) and run in-house lab tests Assist with anesthesia, surgery, and patient recovery, including anesthetic monitoring Obtain diagnostic radiographs and assist with imaging procedures Carry out treatment plans for hospitalized patients, including IV fluids and medication schedules Communicate clearly with clients regarding medications, discharge instructions, and follow-up care Maintain accurate, timely medical records in the hospital EMR Collaborate effectively with veterinarians and support staff Maintain a clean, safe, and organized treatment and surgical areas Requirements Previous experience in a veterinary clinic is preferred. Associates degree or higher is preferred; additional veterinary technician training or certification is a plus. Knowledge of basic veterinary terminology. Experience with animal handling techniques. Previous administrative experience is required. Candidate must have proficiency in basic office skills such as typing, email, and phone etiquette, along with familiarity using multi-line phones, computers, printers, and scanners. Proficiency in using computer systems and software for managing appointments and client information. ezyVet experience is a plus! Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with clients and team members. Ability to work in a dynamic environment while maintaining attention to detail.
