Job Description

Duties:
- Veterinary Technician/Receptionist Are you a veterinary technician looking for a new and exciting opportunity? Or perhaps someone with animal handling skills who would like to become a vet tech? Consider joining the team at the Family Pet Veterinary Practice, located near downtown Silver Spring. We recognize the importance of the relationships between humans and animals and we see our clients and patients as extended family. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, solid organizational aptitude, and an ability to effectively communicate with coworkers and clients.
Experience preferred:
anesthesia (including placement of IV catheters and monitoring anesthesia), dentistry (ability to conduct dental cleanings), radiology (familiarity in taking x-rays), phlebotomy (experience taking blood samples), standard exam room protocol (properly restraining animals for examination and administration of treatments) and general hospital operations.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Being personable, having empathy and respect for clients and patients Taking histories Handling/restraint of pets Assisting with vaccines, blood draws, taking radiographs Running in-house lab tests, preparing/sending out samples to outside labs Surgery preparation, anesthesia monitoring, dental cleanings Filling prescriptions Answering telephone, scheduling appointments Checking clients/patients in and out, processing payments General hospital clean up and stocking of inventory.
