Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Animal Caretaker to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal welfare and the ability to provide high-quality care to a variety of animals. This role involves working closely with animals in a kennel or veterinary setting, ensuring their health and well-being through proper handling, feeding, and medical care. Responsibilities Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, grooming, and exercising. Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to veterinary staff. Administer medications as directed by veterinarians or veterinary technicians. Maintain cleanliness in animal housing areas and ensure proper sanitation protocols are followed. Assist with animal restraint during examinations or treatments. Utilize knowledge of veterinary terminology and animal physiology to communicate effectively with the veterinary team. Handle various species with appropriate techniques, ensuring safety for both the animals and staff. Participate in laboratory procedures as required, adhering to aseptic techniques. Engage in front desk duties when necessary, providing excellent customer service to pet owners. Requirements Previous kennel experience or animal handling skills are preferred. Knowledge of animal husbandry practices and basic veterinary care is essential. Experience as a veterinary technician or in veterinary critical care is a plus. Familiarity with animal anatomy, physiology, and terminology is highly desirable. Skills in medication administration and animal catheterization are beneficial. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while also being self-motivated. Strong communication skills for interacting with clients and team members alike.
