Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Licensed Veterinary Technician, with a special interest in surgery, to join our dynamic veterinary team! In this vital role, you will provide exceptional patient care, assist veterinarians with medical procedures, and ensure the smooth operation of our animal healthcare facility. Your expertise will help improve the lives of our animal patients and support their owners through compassionate service. Facility and Technology We have a modern, advanced facility servicing canine, feline and equine patients A dedicated small animal surgical suite with multiple anesthesia machines, rebreathing systems, scavenger, etc as well as an Equine surgical drop-down stall Mobile dental unit with power drill and other attachments A comprehensive in-house laboratory featuring IDEXX Catalyst, ProCyte, SediVue and inVue machines; a Tosoh machine and Truforma machines. We also have an incubator for Culture and Sensitivities, multiple microscopes, etc 3 ultrasound machines, a Digital small animal x-ray machine and a portable x-ray Small animal isolation and Equine isolation capabilities Small animal grooming suite And so much more! Duties Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment, administering and monitoring anesthesia, and providing necessary support. Perform detailed animal restraint and handling to ensure safety for both animals and staff during treatments and examinations. Conduct laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostics to aid in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. Maintain aseptic techniques during procedures to prevent infection and ensure a sterile environment. Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments following veterinary protocols while monitoring animal responses. Support pet owners with pet care advice, including grooming, feeding, and behavioral training tips like dog training techniques. Operate diagnostic equipment such as X-ray machines, ensuring high-quality imaging for accurate assessment of animal health. Assist with dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and performing pet dental cleanings or extractions as needed. Manage animal husbandry tasks including feeding, cleaning enclosures, and monitoring overall animal health status. Handle a variety of animals including dogs, cats, equines (horses), and other small animals with confidence in animal physiology and anatomy knowledge. Qualifications Valid license as a Veterinary Technician or equivalent certification from an accredited program. Proven veterinary technician experience with familiarity in veterinary critical care environments. Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and aseptic techniques. Experience with laboratory diagnostics and X-ray operation is highly desirable. Ability to handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques Skilled in dog handling, animal catheterization, and pet care practices to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Excellent communication skills for educating pet owners about animal health needs and treatments. Prior experience working with laboratory equipment or performing diagnostic tests is advantageous.
