Essential Responsibilities Assist veterinarians and other technicians with patient care and treatment. Communicate effectively with veterinarians, team members, and clients regarding patient plans and concerns. Safely handle and restrain animals during exams and procedures. Administer and monitor medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments a directed by the veterinarian. Assist with surgical procedures, including preparation, anesthesia monitoring, and postoperative care. Monitor and document the condition of hospitalized patients. Perform and process diagnostic imaging (X-rays). Prepare and dispense prescriptions accurately. Collect and process samples (blood, stool, urine, etc.) for in-house and reference laboratory testing. Educate clients on veterinary care, treatment plans, and preventive health practices. Maintain accurate and detailed electronic medical records Clean and maintain exam rooms, surgery suites, laboratory areas, medical equipment, and pharmacy. Requirements and Qualifications Previous veterinary experience preferred. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds independently and over 25 pounds with assistance. Knowledge and adherence to OSHA safety protocols and proper use of PPE. Proficiency in basic math and medication dosage calculations. Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications. Strong communication and teamwork skills to ensure patient safety. Availability to work weekends as required.
