This is a part-time, weekend hours only position with the potential for alternate shifts and holiday coverage as needed. Candidate must possess a High school diploma or GED. Previous husbandry experience is preferred among a wide variety of species. Must be able to communicate effectively, work as part of a diverse team, be able to adapt to a dynamic working environment, possess good observation skills and have very good attention to detail.
AALAS/ALAT
certifications are a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Direct handling of study subjects; extensive bending, stooping, and carrying exposure to noise and odors within the pre-clinical facility ability to lift study subjects and objects with and without assistance as needed standing and walking up to 8 hours a day
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Animal husbandry, cleaning and sanitizing, and environmental monitoring. Maintain cleanliness of vivariums and assigned areas as well as ensuring sufficient stock and supplies for proper performance of duties. Observe, record and report signs of diseases, atypical behavior and/or death of animals, report changes in environment which may affect the well being of animals. Monitor environmental conditions as outlined in the SOP for each specific species Transport animals, supplies and materials.
