Job Description
Overview We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Veterinary Technician to join our dynamic veterinary team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive veterinary technician experience, including animal handling, laboratory procedures, and critical care. This leadership role requires a proactive individual capable of supervising staff, managing clinical procedures, and ensuring the highest standards of animal care. The Lead Veterinary Technician will play a vital role in supporting veterinarians, training team members, and maintaining efficient clinic operations. Duties Working with the Hospital Manager Supervise and mentor veterinary technician staff, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and best practices Assist veterinarians with animal examinations, diagnostics, and surgical procedures Perform animal restraint, catheterization, and handling with expertise in animal anatomy and physiology Conduct laboratory tests, analyze results, and maintain accurate medical records Administer medications, perform dental procedures using veterinary terminology related to dental care Operate diagnostic equipment including X-ray machines and ultrasound Handle a variety of animals including dogs, cats and other small animals with exceptional animal husbandry skills. Wildlife and exotics would be a plus Maintain cleanliness of clinical areas, sterilize instruments, and ensure compliance with safety protocols Educate pet owners on pet care, and post-operative instructions Requirements Proven veterinary technician experience with a strong background in animal handling, restraint, and anatomy Ability to draw blood and run diagnostics is a MUST Knowledge of veterinary critical care procedures and laboratory testing methods Familiarity with veterinary terminology related to dentistry, pet care, and animal physiology is essential Skills in animal catheterization, aseptic technique, X-ray operation Ability to lead a team effectively while maintaining a compassionate approach to animal care Strong communication skills to collaborate with veterinarians and educate pet owners Come join our dedicated team where your expertise will make a meaningful difference in the lives of animals.
