Job Description

Job Description Veterinary Technician/Veterinary Assistant needed for a busy, mixed animal, single veterinarian practice located in Kearney, Nebraska. Clinic office hours are Monday
  • Friday 8 to 5.
Rotating on-call schedule. Applicants must have the following attributes: strong work ethic and good attendance positive attitude and ability to work in harmony with all staff members effective communication skills with peers as well as clients the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment a well-rounded technical skill set passion for delivering exceptional care to patients as well as clients Duties include: Large Animal
  • Cattle duties
  • assisting with processing cattle for herd work and surgeries/procedures, giving vaccinations and treatments, recording data, writing health papers, nursing/supportive care to hospitalized patients, and operating hydraulic and manual chutes. Work may include at the clinic and on client's ranches. Equine duties
  • assisting in examinations, treatments/vaccinations, documentation for coggins testing and health papers and restraint. Small animal
  • assisting with exams and surgeries (monitoring anesthesia, placing IV catheters, drawing blood), patient care and monitoring, running and maintaining in-house diagnostic and radiology equipment, nails trims, dental prophies, along with basic grooming and small animal care, answering the phone, maintaining medical records, and client education.
Qualifications or Skills Required Preference given to a current Licensed Veterinary Technician (or eligible to be licensed), but a veterinary assistant will be considered also. Would prefer someone with experience working around cattle and horses, but would be willing to train the right applicant. We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, honest, reliable, respectful, positive minded team player who possesses good communication skills and is a people person who is willing to learn and work with all staff and clients in a busy, mixed animal practice.
