Job Description
Job Summary Whiting Veterinary Clinic is a newly reopened, single doctor practice seeking a compassionate, community-focused Veterinary Technician to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animals, strong communication skills, and a willingness to learn and help with a variety of tasks. Responsibilities Assist veterinarian with anesthesia, sedation, and monitoring. Perform blood draws and place IV catheters. Safely monitor and recover patients post-surgery. Maintain a clean and sanitary surgery suite. Turn suite over between procedures as needed. Clean and sanitize surgical instruments via the autoclave. Confidently handle diagnostic samples and ensure tests are run in a timely manner. Ensure diagnostic samples that are going to the lab are labelled, stored, and shipped appropriately. Safely perform radiographs and hold for ultrasounds. Administer medications and monitor hospitalized patients as needed. Direct and support a team of growing veterinary assistants, helping them build their skills to ensure hospital efficiency. Educate clients on pet health and treatment plans. Qualifications CVT/LVT/RVT or 3+ years experience in a veterinary setting. Ability to handle animals with compassion and skill. Capable of both taking the lead and following direction. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to educate and comfort clients. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Physical ability to perform duties that include lifting up to 40 pounds, bending, standing for long periods, and handling potentially stressful situations. Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
