Job Description

Larchmont Animal Hospital, an independently owned small animal hospital, is seeking a skilled and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our dedicated team! We are a small but mighty group, able to provide high quality, high touch care of cats and dogs in a supportive and friendly environment. Our hospital has been a staple of the community for the past few decades but has been under new ownership since November of 2023. The new owners have brought updated technology including digital radiographs, dental radiographs, cardiac and abdominal ultrasound, in house bloodwork capabilities, and tonometry.
Responsibilities:
Possess knowledge of veterinary medicine and be able to educate clients with compassion and kindness Take accurate histories and record findings in the computerized record system General practice technical skills including but not limited to venipuncture, catheter placement, sample collection, radiology, drug calculations, cystocentesis, etc. Surgical tech skills including but not limited to induction, intubation, anesthesia monitoring, and post-surgical recovery Perform dental prophylaxis and dental radiographs under the supervision of the veterinarian Provide high-quality patient care and support in both exam rooms and treatment areas Perform technician appointments Fill and dispense medications Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed Educate pet owners on post-operative and general pet care Maintain a clean and organized work environment Clean and disinfect kennels, equipment, and facility while utilizing appropriate PPE and following cleaning protocols
Requirements:
Certification as a Veterinary Technician (preferred) or relevant experience Proficiency in surgical assistance and anesthesia monitoring Strong technical skills in patient care, lab work, and room assistance Excellent communication and teamwork skills Passion for animals and commitment to providing exceptional care Physical stamina and ability to work 9+ hour shifts on feet, lift, stand, squat, etc for long periods of time Ability to lift up to 40 pounds Be aware of the possible exposure to animal bites and/or interspecies communicable diseases Ability to work with a diversity of staff and clientele professionally Basic computer and phone skills

PM Thursday:
8:00 AM•2:00
PM Friday:
9:00 AM•5:00 PM Occasional Saturday may be required Schedule is negotiable and flexibility may be required
