Position Summary:
Our Veterinary Technician's assist alongside the Veterinarian with medical procedures. They begin the examination procedure and continue to help the Veterinarian throughout the examination, diagnosis, and treatment phases. The expected manner of every Veterinary Technician or Assistant is to maintain a professional demeanor at all times, use appropriate medical terminology and support management and fellow team members at all times. Provides exceptional patient care for every case.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Head Veterinary Technician duties: Coordinate staff daily duties for veterinary technicians and veterinary assistants Establish/update staff work schedules Provide input on hiring/evaluations/discharge Train staff Coordinate call outs & finding coverage Organize regular Staff Meetings Maintain open staff communication Mediate personnel problems Ensure optimal client relations through training/oversight of staff Enforce Hospital policies Maintain communication board Meet with veterinarian and management as needed to problem solve, strategize goals, protocols Other duties as needed Veterinary Technician duties: Performing an initial examination of the animal. Restraining animals. Taking vital signs, drawing blood, placing catheters, and gathering medical histories. Providing emergency first aid. Performing laboratory procedures. Preparing animals and equipment for surgical procedures. Administering medications and vaccines prescribed by a veterinarian. Taking and processing x-rays. Collecting specimens. Educating animal owners on many areas of veterinary medicine. Cleans animal cages and equipment OSHA awareness and compliance. Extraordinary customer service. Use of appropriate medical terminology. Cleaning wounds, changing dressings, nail trims, and anal expressions.
ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES
Ability to make good decisions, solve problems and decide on important matters. Ability to act with integrity and uphold high standards of ethical conduct. Must be able to organize work efficiently, set priorities, and establish plans and multi-task. Must be able to comprehend written material easily and accurately, and be able to express thoughts clearly and succinctly in writing. Respect for and willingness to work with clients and patients.
EDUCATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
High school or equivalent (Required) Veterinary Technician Certification (Preferred, not required)
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Significant experience within a veterinary hospital required. Veterinary Technician background (Required). Supervisory background.
