Job Description
Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) Lake Ontario Veterinary Clinic - Oswego, NY Lake Ontario Veterinary Clinic is looking to add a Licensed Veterinary Technician to our team as we continue to grow. This is a full-time, weekday position within clinic hours (typically between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM), with no nights, weekends, or on-call. Compensation is $22-27/hour based on experience and skill set. About the Role We are a privately owned small animal practice in Oswego, NY. We have put a lot of effort into building a clinic that is structured, supportive, and sustainable to work in. We prioritize thoughtful medicine, clear communication with our clients, and giving our team the time they need to do their jobs well. What This Role Looks Like This is a well-rounded technician role with a mix of surgery, appointments, and patient care throughout the day. Some days you will be more procedure-focused, working closely with doctors on surgical and dental cases or sedated diagnostics. Other days are more appointment-driven, working closely with doctors to support patient visits, client communication, and day-to-day flow. Some days you may even get a little of both. Regardless of the flow of the day, you will be working closely alongside a team of capable technicians and supportive, accessible doctors. We communicate openly, help each other, and work together to make sure patients and clients are well cared for. You Will Be Involved in anesthesia and procedural support Managing surgical and dental patients from pre-med through recovery Taking patient histories and supporting appointments Communicating with clients about care, treatments, and follow-up Running technician appointments when appropriate Placing IV catheters, drawing blood, running diagnostics, and managing lab samples Obtaining diagnostic radiographs Handling medication requests and helping to manage ongoing patient care Performing laser therapy treatments and assisting with follow-up care Helping maintain flow and support the team throughout the day Who Tends to Do Well Here People who are calm, steady, and reliable, communicate clearly, and work well as part of a team tend to do very well in this role. Attention to detail, a sense of ownership over your work, and a professional, accountable approach all go a long way here. Growth and Areas of Interest As our practice grows, we also support technicians in developing areas of interest within the role. Over time, some team members naturally take the lead in certain areas of patient care or client education, and we encourage that when it fits, while still maintaining a structured, team-based approach to how the day runs. Professional Expectations This is a licensed position, and we treat it that way. Our technicians are respected as medical professionals and are an essential part of patient care. You do not have to know everything on day one. Experience is helpful, but mindset matters more.
