Brief Description of Duties:
The Laboratory Animal Caretaker will take care of lab animals in order to help research work. Washes and sterilizes animal caging equipment and supplies, including use of autoclaves, rack washers, tunnel washers, and other specialized equipment; Monitors animals' health and welfare to detect symptoms of disease or changes in conditions and promptly reports them via facility protocol to veterinary staff; Attends to the physical needs of animals such as feeding, watering, and providing environmental enrichment; Performs minimal housekeeping duties such as sweeping and mopping and laundry. Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.
Special Notes:
These are full-time positions, 40 hours per week, Tuesday - Saturday OR Sunday - Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Mandatory rehire roster candidates have preference. SG 5 Hiring Rate $34,452. This position includes location pay of $4,000 per year. The selected candidate must successfully clear a background investigation. Resume/CV and cover letter should be included with the online application.
