About the
Role:
The Vet Technician plays a critical role in supporting veterinarians by providing high-quality medical care to animals. This position involves performing a variety of clinical tasks including dental services, radiography, and basic medical calculations to assist in diagnosis and treatment. The technician ensures that all procedures are conducted safely and efficiently, maintaining the well-being and comfort of animal patients. Additionally, the role requires meticulous record-keeping and communication with veterinary staff to facilitate seamless patient care. Ultimately, the Vet Technician contributes to the overall success of the veterinary practice by delivering expert technical support and compassionate animal care.
Minimum Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited Veterinary Technician program. Proficiency in performing dental services and radiographic procedures. Ability to perform basic medical calculations accurately. Strong understanding of animal anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a professional veterinary or animal care setting. Additional certifications in dental radiography or anesthesia. Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems. Strong communication skills for client education and team collaboration. Continuing education in emerging veterinary technologies and practices.
Responsibilities:
Perform dental cleanings, examinations, and assist with dental procedures under veterinarian supervision. Conduct radiographic imaging, including positioning animals and operating radiography equipment safely. Calculate medication dosages, fluid rates, and other basic medical calculations accurately to support treatment plans. Monitor animal patients' vital signs and behavior during procedures and recovery periods. Maintain detailed medical records and assist in inventory management of medical supplies and equipment. Prepare animals for surgery and assist veterinarians during surgical procedures as needed. Educate pet owners on post-treatment care and preventive health measures.
