Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment using aseptic techniques. Handle animals safely and confidently, utilizing animal restraint techniques and dog handling skills to ensure both pet and staff safety. Perform laboratory tests, including sample collection, processing, and analysis to support accurate diagnoses. Maintain detailed records of patient histories, treatments, laboratory results, and radiographs (X-ray procedures). Support dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and assisting with pet dental cleanings, extractions, and oral health assessments. Provide animal husbandry care such as feeding, bathing, grooming, and monitoring vital signs to promote optimal health. Assist with pet grooming and pet care routines to enhance comfort and well-being. Conduct animal catheterization, administer medications under supervision, and support critical care cases involving animals with complex medical needs. Operate imaging equipment like X-ray machines accurately while adhering to safety protocols. Support the team in equine (horse) care when applicable by applying specialized knowledge of equine physiology and handling. Skills Proven kennel experience with the ability to manage multiple animals in a busy setting. Strong understanding of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and veterinary critical care practices. Experience with dog training techniques and pet grooming to improve animal comfort and owner satisfaction. Skilled in animal handling techniques for dogs, cats, and larger animals like horses; capable of performing animal restraint safely. Familiarity with laboratory procedures including sample collection and analysis. Knowledge of aseptic techniques essential for surgical preparation and wound management. Ability to interpret veterinary imaging (X-ray) results accurately. Excellent communication skills for collaborating with team members and educating pet owners on animal care needs.
