Our patients we treat range from reptiles, amphibians, avian, poultry, and small mammals.​ Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment using aseptic techniques. Handle animals safely and confidently, utilizing animal restraint techniques and exotic handling skills to ensure both pet and staff safety. Perform laboratory tests, including sample collection, processing, and analysis to support accurate diagnoses. Maintain detailed records of patient histories, treatments, laboratory results, and radiographs (X-ray procedures). Administer medications under supervision, and support critical care cases involving animals with complex medical needs. Operate imaging equipment like X-ray machines accurately while adhering to safety protocols. Skills Proven experience with the ability to manage multiple animals in a busy setting. Strong understanding of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and veterinary critical care practices specifically in exotics. Skilled in animal handling techniques for birds and reptiles, and larger animals like ducks, chickens, and turkeys; and capable of performing animal restraint safely. Familiarity with laboratory procedures including sample collection and analysis. Knowledge of aseptic techniques essential for surgical preparation and wound management. Ability to interpret veterinary imaging (X-ray) results accurately. Excellent communication skills for collaborating with team members and educating pet owners on animal care needs.
