Job Description

Job Summary :
Under general supervision, assists with the cleanliness of the shelter and the care and upkeep of the animals housed therein. May assist public with routine inquiries.
Major Responsibilities :
Cleans common areas, cages, and kennels on a regular basis Supplies food, water, and personal care to detained animals Provides other animal needs as directed by shelter staff Takes phone messages and answers general questions Assists with grounds keeping needs such as trash removal, weeding, etc. Assists with stocking general supplies such as food, litter, etc. Assists guests with general inquiries and viewing of detained animals Assists other employees with general departmental functions Performs other duties as assigned, including assisting other departments as required.
Minimum Qualifications & Required Knowledge :
High school graduate or GED Valid Class "D" Oklahoma Driver's license One to two years of experience handling animals Knowledge of City policy and procedures Knowledge of shelter regulations and guidelines Skill in the capture and transport of animals Skill in oral and written communication Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations Ability to perform light maintenance
