Job Description
Griffin Pond Animal Shelter is currently seeking an experienced part-time veterinary technician to add to our team. We are a well-established animal shelter dedicated to giving our animals the best quality of care. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, communicating clearly with fosters/adopters, compassionate patient care, accurate record-keeping, proper animal restraint, diagnostics, blood sampling, dispensing prescriptions, monitoring surgery & anesthesia, etc. Strong communication skills, ability to multi-task, able to work well as a team as well as an individual, compassion for fosters/adopters, patients and team members is a must. This position requires experience. Duties- Provide surgical assistance by preparing pets, scrubbing, shaving, and operating specific surgical equipment and supplies. Assist veterinarian with providing diagnostic imaging services to pets. Maintains logs of pet diagnoses, treatments, and follow-up results so the veterinarian can track responses to care Collect and run blood/urine samples Clean wounds and apply necessary bandages Monitor vitals, place catheters, and take x-rays Maintain inventory Maintain equipment by following operating directions Communicate with fosters/adopters regarding follow up care Understands and Carrie's out oral and written directions Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy environment by sanitizing and disinfecting areas Perform other duties as needed
