Job Description :

The Licensed Veterinary Technician position in our Community Clinic provides an array of veterinary services to the public, as well as providing medical and surgical care to our shelter animals. The Vet- Tech should be a positive individual who is committed to making an impact on the lives of animals. Vet-Tech must be willing to actively engage in the spirit and policies associated with Open Door Access. The goal of the Animal Care Sanctuary Community Clinic is to ensure access to high-quality veterinary care for everyone in our community as well as all our shelter animals. We expect all clinic team members to be constantly growing in knowledge and looking for ways to expand services and provide a positive customer-centric experience for all clinic clients. The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Adhere to the highest ethical standards of animal care in a safe, competent, professional, humane manner at all times. Provide compassionate and quality patient care at all times utilizing Fear Free/Low Stress handling - we offer Fear Free training Communicate in effective and professional manner with public and all ACS staff members Learn the Open-Door Access Model of Care and work to implement it into the daily clinic practices Scrub in for surgery assistance

Communication:

Make phone calls or emails to clients as directed by veterinarians. Go over medications and discharge instructions as directed. Take client and patient history for wellness exams. Assist with scheduling appointments. Induce and monitor anesthesia for surgery patients. Place IV catheters and ET tubes on surgical patients. Run diagnostics as directed by the veterinarians, including but not limited to: Skin scrapes, fecal floats, urinalysis, cbc and chemistry. Fill medications to dispense Administer booster vaccines Assist with maintaining inventory, adding stock to ProVet when delivered.

Animal handling:

Restrain animals for exams, injections, surgical prep, etc. Prep animals for surgery. Bring shelter animals to and from clinic

Records:

Record charts and medical info into Provet. Scan and link documents to Provet as needed. Scan and link documents to Provet as needed. Assist with check-in and discharge of surgery patients.

Cleaning:

Cages, tables, sweeping, mopping, wiping down counters. Clean and restock exam rooms, surgery room, prep room, animal holding rooms, bathrooms. . Wash animal dishes. Do laundry.

Surgery packs:

Clean, wrap and sterilize surgery packs Assist with keeping the clinic clean, including but not limited to sweeping and mopping when help is needed. Education and Experience Requirements:

• Licensed Veterinary Technician in the state of

PA- REQUIRED

• Experience working in a vet clinic or shelter environment preferred but not necessary
