About Us New Stanton Veterinary Service is a privately owned, one-doctor small animal practice dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality medicine while creating a positive, supportive environment for our team and clients. As our practice continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Lead Veterinary Technician to become a key part of our leadership team. This is not an administrative management position. Our Practice Manager oversees HR, inventory, scheduling, vendor relations, and daily business operations. Instead, we are looking for a strong clinical leader who will work closely with the Practice Manager and Practice Owner/DVM to lead the technical team, support excellent patient care, and help maintain an efficient workflow. Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled veterinary technician who enjoys mentoring others, leading by example, and jumping in wherever needed. The ideal candidate is confident in advanced technical skills, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and naturally supports and motivates their teammates. This role is heavily focused on the clinical side of veterinary medicine. You will be expected to work alongside the doctor in appointments and surgery while serving as the lead technician for the team. What You'll Do Serve as the clinical leader for our technician and assistant team Work directly with the veterinarian during appointments and procedures Perform blood draws, IV catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring, dental procedures, radiology, laboratory diagnostics, and patient treatments Assist as a back-up in surgeries and ensure surgical protocols are followed Mentor, train, and support technicians and assistants Help maintain efficient workflow throughout the day by stepping in wherever needed Lead by example with professionalism, teamwork, and a positive attitude Assist with challenging cases and advanced technical procedures Support team members with patient care and technical guidance Communicate staff concerns, workflow challenges, and improvement ideas to the Practice Manager and Practice Owner Help implement new protocols and maintain high medical standards Ensure excellent patient care and client communication What This Position Is NOT This position does not include: HR responsibilities Inventory management Ordering supplies Staff scheduling Payroll Vendor management Financial responsibilities Those responsibilities are managed by the Practice Manager. Instead, your focus will be leading the clinical team , supporting the doctor, and helping your coworkers succeed.
