No Position Purpose The Laboratory Animal Technicians in the Center for Comparative Medicine and Research (CCMR) provide specific care to laboratory animals in a safe and sanitary manner in accordance with clearly defined direction and established federal, state, and local regulations, guidelines and policies on the use of laboratory animals in the conduct of biomedical research and to provide support for the research investigations.
Note:
This is a developmental position, involving intensive training and increased responsibility as the individual becomes proficient in the work. Upon completion of the training and when management determines full performance has been met, the incumbent may be promoted notcompetitively to the next level. Description Required Qualifications Education and Yrs Exp High School plus 12 year(s) of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience Required Qualifications Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
  • At least one year of relevant animal care experience.
  • Ability to apply procedures for the care and handling of laboratory animals.
  • Must have the capacity to safely and efficiently lift and transport equipment or feed packages of up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work weekend and holiday schedules.
  • Ability to instruct and mentor other technicians. Preferred Qualifications
  • Compliance and training experience.
  • Successful completion of the AALAS Laboratory Animal Technician certification.
