$55,112.05 - $55,112.05 The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Position Summary We are seeking a highly motivated Technician B (Technical Grade 4) for the Columbia University Medical Center Oncology Precision Therapeutics and Imaging Core (OPTIC) at the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Technician will work under the guidance of the OPTIC Manager. The successful applicant will play a key role in preclinical projects to assess drug efficacy using in vitro and in vivo tumor models. Subject to business needs, we may support flexible and hybrid work arrangements. Options will be discussed during the interview process. Responsibilities Perform procedures with rodents including drug administration, tissue sampling, measurements, etc. (30%) Perform surgical procedures on rodents including biopsies and tumor implantations. (10%) Assist with colony management. (10%) Perform small animal imaging procedures using optical, ultrasound, micro CT, and MRI instruments (training provided). (20%) Perform data analyses. (20%) Administrative responsibilities regarding study organization, mouse protocols, procedural documentation, database development, etc. (10%) Minimum Qualifications Requires a Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, or physics or a completed animal husbandry program or equivalent in education, training, and experience. Preferred Qualifications Understanding of pharmacology, animal physiology, and/or animal behavior Experience with tissue and blood sampling techniques for small animals Experience with rodent injections and other procedures such as I.V. administration Knowledge of small animal surgery and anesthesia Experience with small animal imaging Other Requirements Basic knowledge of cell and molecular biology concepts Mouse handling Basic cell/molecular biology techniques Basic computer skills Strong science and writing skills Project management and organizational skills Equal Opportunity Employer / Disability / Veteran Columbia University is committed to the hiring of qualified local residents.Similar remote jobs
