Description Veterinary Technician - Surgery & ICU Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists - Mansfield Mansfield, TX | 24/7 Emergency & Specialty Hospital Provide Advanced Care from Surgery Through Recovery Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists of Mansfield is hiring an experienced Veterinary Technician (Surgery & ICU) to join our collaborative Emergency and Specialty team. This hybrid role is ideal for a clinically strong technician who enjoys both hands ‑ on surgical support and critical care nursing, ensuring continuity of care from induction through recovery and hospitalization. About You You're adaptable, detail ‑ oriented, and confident working in a fast ‑ paced hospital environment. Whether supporting anesthesia in surgery or providing advanced ICU nursing care, you take ownership of your patients and communicate clearly with doctors and teammates to achieve the best outcomes. Experience & Skills Required / Strongly Preferred Minimum 2+ years veterinary technician experience (ER, ICU, or surgery preferred)

LVT/CVT/RVT

strongly encouraged Experience with anesthesia monitoring and surgical assisting Solid understanding of emergency and critical care medicine Ability to manage multiple hospitalized or peri ‑ operative patients Proficiency with IV catheter placement, sample collection, and medication administration Strong medical math skills, including CRIs Experience using advanced monitoring equipment (ECG, SpO₂, EtCO ₂, BP) Excellent attention to detail and ability to recognize subtle patient changes Calm, organized, and professional under pressure Nice to Have Familiarity with ventilators, oxygen therapy, transfusions Experience with higher ‑ risk anesthesia cases (ASA III-V) Diagnostic imaging experience (radiology; MRI/CT a plus) What You'll Do Surgery Support Assist veterinarians with surgical procedures in accordance with state practice acts Prepare patients for surgery, including induction and pre ‑ anesthetic monitoring Maintain and monitor anesthesia throughout procedures Ensure proper aseptic technique and surgical suite preparation Anticipate surgeon needs and support efficient surgical workflow Provide attentive post ‑ operative monitoring and recovery care Maintain accurate anesthesia and surgical records ICU & Critical Care Deliver continuous nursing care for hospitalized and critically ill patients Monitor and document TPRs, pain scores, and status changes Administer medications, fluids, CRIs, and treatments as prescribed Communicate patient changes promptly to veterinarians Assist with triage and emergency procedures as needed Manage ICU equipment (fluid pumps, oxygen cages, monitors) Maintain clean, organized, and compliant ICU and treatment areas Ensure accurate medical records and charge capture Team & Culture Collaborate with doctors and technicians to support patient flow Mentor and support teammates when needed Contribute to a positive, accountable, and supportive hospital culture On ‑ call availability may be required for off days or weekends.
