Position Responsibilities Provide compassionate, high-quality care to hospitalized and outpatient patients. Obtain and document complete patient histories, vital signs, and treatment information. Properly restrain and handle patients for examinations and procedures. Place IV catheters and collect blood, urine, fecal, and other diagnostic samples. Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratories. Perform radiographs and assist with other diagnostic imaging. Calculate and administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian. Monitor hospitalized patients and communicate changes in condition to the veterinarian. Prepare patients, equipment, instruments, and surgical areas for procedures. Assist veterinarians during surgical procedures. Induce, monitor, and recover patients from anesthesia according to hospital protocols and veterinarian direction. Monitor anesthetic parameters and accurately document anesthesia records. Provide appropriate post-operative monitoring and patient care. Perform dental cleanings and assist with dental procedures as directed. Assist with dental radiographs. Maintain and properly clean, disinfect, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment. Maintain surgical and treatment areas in a clean, organized, and properly stocked condition. Prepare and maintain exam rooms and treatment areas. Restock supplies and notify management when inventory is running low. Assist with pharmacy duties, including preparing medications and filling prescriptions as directed. Maintain accurate medical records and treatment sheets. Educate clients regarding medications, home care, nutrition, preventative care, and post-operative instructions as directed by the veterinarian. Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients regarding patient care. Assist with patient discharge and ensure clients understand veterinarian-provided instructions. Provide appropriate care to hospitalized, boarding, and surgical patients, including feeding, walking, medication administration, and monitoring. Assist with euthanasia procedures and provide compassionate support to patients and clients. Follow all hospital policies, protocols, safety procedures, and OSHA requirements. Maintain patient confidentiality and professionalism at all times. Assist other team members when needed and contribute to an efficient team environment. Perform other duties as assigned by the veterinarian or management.
