Job Description
OnPoint Animal Hospital is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Veterinary Sanitation Technician to join our team. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our patients, clients, and staff. You will perform a variety of cleaning and sanitation tasks to uphold the highest standards of hygiene and safety within our facility.
Responsibilities:
Clean and sanitize exam rooms, treatment rooms, and recovery areas between patient visits. Sweep, mop, and disinfect floors throughout the hospital, including kennels, cages, and boarding areas. Remove animal waste and biohazard materials safely and in accordance with established procedures. Maintain cleanliness in reception areas, waiting rooms, offices, restrooms, and staff break rooms. Clean and disinfect food and water bowls, as well as high-touch surfaces. Empty trash, recycling, and medical waste containers regularly. Launder, fold, and organize hospital linens, towels, and bedding. Restock cleaning supplies, soaps, and disinfectants as needed. Respond promptly to spills and accidents, ensuring immediate and thorough cleaning. Support veterinary staff with cleaning-related tasks during busy periods. Follow all infection control and biosecurity protocols, utilizing approved cleaning chemicals as per guidelines. Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to OSHA, CDC, and hospital safety standards. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for all cleaning tasks and ensure proper usage. Perform outside yard clean-up, ensuring the area is free of debris and waste. Conduct basic facilities maintenance, including replacing light bulbs and addressing other essential needs as they arise.Key Skills and Qualifications:
Knowledge of effective cleaning and disinfecting procedures. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently. Excellent time management and prioritization skills. Physical stamina to meet the demands of the job, including standing, lifting, and walking. Comfort working around animals and in an animal-related environment. Reliability and dependability in performing job duties. Understanding of infection control practices and workplace safety.Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the facility.
- Frequent bending and stretching to reach various areas for cleaning and maintenance.
- Working in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments.
