We are committed to promoting health, hope, and healing for every animal in our care. Position Summary The Kennel Technician plays a vital role in the daily care, safety, and well-being of the animals at Pets Fur People. This position is responsible for maintaining clean and sanitary conditions, providing enrichment and compassionate handling, and monitoring animal health and behavior. This is a hands-on role ideal for individuals who are passionate about animal welfare and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Key Responsibilities Feed and water animals according to established schedules and special dietary needs Clean and disinfect kennels, cages, yards, and equipment following strict sanitation protocols Monitor animals daily for signs of illness, injury, or stress and report concerns promptly Provide enrichment, exercise, and socialization for dogs and cats Safely handle animals of varying sizes, temperaments, and medical conditions Assist with bathing and basic grooming as needed Maintain accurate records for feeding, medications, and care Perform laundry and restock supplies in animal care areas Assist with intake and discharge of animals when needed Support adoption and veterinary teams as required Deliver excellent customer service to visitors, adopters, and volunteers Follow all safety, disease prevention, and organizational protocols Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age High school diploma or equivalent required Previous animal care or shelter experience preferred, but not required Strong work ethic and reliability Ability to work independently and as part of a team Excellent communication and observational skills Compassion for animals and alignment with our mission Physical Requirements & Working Conditions Ability to lift and handle animals and materials up to 50 pounds Frequent standing, walking, bending, and cleaning Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions Exposure to animal noise, odors, and cleaning chemicals
