  • Full-time Position Overview We are seeking an advanced-level Surgical Veterinary Technician with strong anesthesia and surgical experience.
This role requires someone who can work independently, maintain surgical flow, and confidently respond to emergencies without needing hands-on guidance. This is not an entry-level position. Candidates must be comfortable in a high-volume setting and capable of leading by example. Schedule Monday
  • Thursday:
    7:00 AM
  • 5:30 PM Overtime may be needed some times Consistent 4-day work week Key Responsibilities Perform venipuncture and IV catheter placement proficiently Calculate, draw up, and administer anesthetic and medications Induce, intubate, and prepare patients for surgery Monitor anesthesia with strong recognition of abnormal conditions Prep surgical patients efficiently, including shaving, sterilizing, nail trims, vaccines, and bloodwork within approximately 4-5 minutes per patient Maintain continuous surgical flow in a high-volume environment Respond effectively during emergencies Direct team members and support the veterinarian during critical events Handle and track controlled substances accurately Communicate clearly with team members and clients Train and mentor assistants and newer technicians Support patient intake, discharge, and post-op instruction as needed What We're Looking For Strong anesthesia experience (required) Proven ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Experience in high-volume surgery preferred Leadership mindset—able to guide team members and maintain efficiency Ability to efficiently prep a surgical patient start-to-finish within 4-5 minutes while maintaining accuracy and patient safety Ability to quickly adapt to changes in workflow, protocols, and patient needs in a fast-paced environment Strong ability to retain and consistently follow medical protocols and standard operating procedures Excellent communication and teamwork skills Ability to stay calm, focused, and efficient under pressure Benefits Medical, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off (PTO) Competitive employee pet care discount program IRA retirement option Work Environment Fast-paced, high-volume surgical setting (70+ patients/day) Regular handling of dogs, cats, including reactive, fractious or feral patients Physically demanding role (standing, lifting, bending throughout shift) must be able to lift 50 pounds daily Exposure to anesthesia gases, cleaning agents, and surgical equipment Why Join Us Work alongside a highly experienced, fast-paced surgical team performing 70-80 procedures per day Build and refine advanced anesthesia and surgical skills in a true high-volume setting Be trusted to work independently and make a real impact in patient care Opportunity to lead, train, and mentor team members Make a meaningful difference in reducing pet overpopulation and supporting local rescues Be part of a clinic that values competence, compassion, and efficiency in everything we do Structured 4-day work week with no weekends for better work-life balance Supportive team environment that works hard, moves fast, and has each other's backs High level of case exposure—gain experience you won't get in a traditional clinic setting Ideal for technicians who enjoy a fast pace, take pride in efficiency, and want to work at the top of their skill set
