Veterinary Technician

We are looking to add an experienced veterinary technician to our team! A veterinary technician is the veterinarian's primary medical support. They begin the examination procedure and continue to assist the doctor throughout the examination, diagnosis and treatment phases. They have a very significant role in communicating with and educating clients about their pets. This available position is 32-36 hours a week. No weekends or holidays. Responsibilites are as follows but not limited to; Obtaining patient vitals Assist doctor during pet examination Maintain accurate medical records Effectively restrain pets even when large or difficult Give medications

IV, SQ, IM, PO

Assist in preparing for surgeries Properly position for and take radiographs Perform dental cleanings Place IV catheters Create estimates and present to client Perform clinical laboratory procedures, heartworm tests, urinalysis, fungal cultures. Draw blood for laboratory analysis Explain necessary follow up and home care instructions Keeping areas of the hospital clean and tidy

Qualifications:

Highschool diploma or equivalent Veterinary Technician Certification desirable, but not required Minimum 2 years experience working as a veterinary technician Must be at least 18 years old Is well-spoken can approach his/her job duties in a mature nature Has excellent communication skills Is experienced in the teamwork approach and works well with all levels of hospital team members Work requires lifting and carrying animals. (Will be assisted by other staff memeber in lifting animals over 50lbs.) Walks or stands for extended periods of time
