Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) - Internal Medicine Veterinary Specialists of HanoverMechanicsville, VAFull-Time | Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday | No Weekends Veterinary Specialists of Hanover (VSH) is a locally owned and operated specialty referral hospital in Mechanicsville, VA. Our team provides advanced Internal Medicine and Surgical care while working closely with referring veterinarians to provide the best possible outcomes for our patients. We believe specialty medicine should be both high-quality and compassionate, and we strive to create an environment where our team members can learn, grow, and enjoy coming to work. VSH is looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate, and dependable Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to join our growing Internal Medicine team ! If you are an LVT who enjoys learning, working with complex cases, and being part of a close-knit specialty team, we would love to meet you! About the Position Our Internal Medicine LVTs play an important role in supporting our Internal Medicine doctor and ensuring our patients and clients receive exceptional care. This position is ideal for an LVT who enjoys patient care, client communication, diagnostics, and learning about challenging medical cases. Responsibilities Assist the Internal Medicine doctor with appointments, diagnostics, procedures, and patient care Obtain detailed patient histories and assist with patient assessments Place IV catheters and collect blood and other diagnostic samples Perform and assist with laboratory testing Assist with ultrasound procedures, FNA's, radiographs and other advanced diagnostic procedures Monitor patients during diagnostic procedures and treatments Calculate and administer medications and treatments as directed Prepare patients for procedures and ensure appropriate post-procedure care Review and explain patient discharge instructions with clients Provide compassionate, professional client communication and education
What We're Looking For Required:
Current Virginia LVT license Veterinary technician experience Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to work effectively and effeciently as part of a team Compassionate and professional approach to patient and client care Ability to multitask and remain calm in a busy specialty environment Willingness to learn and grow within the Internal Medicine specialty Specialty experience is a plus, but not required. We are willing to train the right person who has a strong foundation in veterinary medicine and a desire to learn. The right candidate will be someone who can work independently when needed while also being a strong team player. A positive attitude and willingness to learn are just as important to us as experience.
