We are currently searching for a full time, or part time, licensed veterinary technician, who can work in a fast paced, multi doctor, AAHA accredited practice. Applicant should be comfortable with restraining patients and basic pet care knowledge. Applicant must have a positive attitude, be able to work independently, as well as be a team player. Position does include rotating Saturday shifts. Duties include but are not limited to: Assisting veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures with precision and confidence Performing animal restraint and handling to ensure safety for both pets and staff during treatments and examinations Conducting laboratory tests including blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostics to support accurate diagnoses Maintaining aseptic techniques during procedures such as catheterizations, wound management, and dental cleanings Preparing animals for surgery or diagnostic imaging such as X-ray, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocol. Supporting dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and assisting with cleaning, scaling, and polishing teeth Requirements Valid license to practice as a veterinary technician in the state of Virginia Experience working with dogs, cats, and other small animals Knowledge of animal physiology, anatomy, and veterinary critical care practices Familiarity with laboratory techniques, X-ray operation, animal catheterization, and aseptic procedures Ability to handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and educate pet owners on animal care Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment Ability to lift and carry 35 lbs without assistance Benefits for full time technicians include: Emloyee Discount Health Insurance Life & Short Term Disability Insurance IRA Matching Paid Time Off Paid Holidays CE Allowance Uniform Allowance License Reimbursement Pay rate will be based on experience and years in the profession.
