Overview We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Certified Veterinary Technician to join our dynamic veterinary team. As a Certified Veterinary Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting veterinarians by performing diagnostic tests, assisting in surgeries, and delivering comprehensive animal care. Duties Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment. Perform laboratory work including blood draws, urinalysis, and other diagnostic tests to aid in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. Manage animal restraint and handling to ensure safety for both pets and staff during examinations and procedures. Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments accurately following veterinary protocols. Monitor animals under anesthesia during surgical procedures, ensuring proper anesthetic depth and vital sign stability through veterinary anesthesia monitoring techniques. Conduct radiology diagnostics such as X-ray imaging, ensuring proper positioning and safety precautions are followed. Maintain detailed medical records using veterinary software systems while ensuring compliance with confidentiality standards. Support emergency medicine cases by providing critical care interventions such as vascular access, IV insertion, and animal catheterization. Assist with pet grooming, pet care education for clients, and basic animal husbandry tasks to promote overall health. Operate medical equipment efficiently while adhering to aseptic techniques to prevent infection or contamination. Qualifications Certification as a Veterinary Technician from an accredited program is required; state licensure or registration is required. Proven experience working with animals in a veterinary setting, including kennel experience and emergency care exposure. Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and surgical procedures. Hands-on experience with laboratory work, diagnostic radiology (X-ray), and critical & intensive care practices. Proficiency in veterinary software for record-keeping and appointment management. Excellent animal handling skills across various species including dogs, cats, equines (horses), and small mammals. Ability to perform venipuncture (phlebotomy), IV insertion, vascular access, and animal catheterization with precision. Familiarity with dental terminology and dental procedures for pets is advantageous. Strong communication skills for client interaction regarding pet care instructions and treatment plans. Demonstrated ability to operate medical equipment safely while maintaining high standards of aseptic technique.
