Job Description
Salary/Pay:
Starting wage of $30 per hour. Rate is negotiable based on previous relevant experience and skill level as established by the Board of Education.Full-Time Benefits Include:
Employer IMRF Contribution 13 Sick, 2 Personal, 10 Vacation, 12 Holidays 100% Board•Paid Employee Health Insurance Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required. HVAC certification or licensure required. EPA 608 certification for handling refrigerants. 3-5 years of experience in HVAC installation, repair, and maintenance. Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS) preferred. Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing HVAC systems. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and wiring diagrams. Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration principles. Good communication and time-management skills. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Work in confined spaces, on rooftops, and in varying weather conditions. Ability to climb ladders and use hand and power tools safely.Pre-Employment Requirements:

Director of Buildings and GroundsDESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
System Maintenance and Repairs:
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC systems, including boilers, chillers, furnaces, air handlers, heat pumps, ventilation units, and refrigeration equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance, including filter changes, lubrication, and system diagnostics.
- Inspect systems to identify issues and recommend necessary repairs or replacements.
System Installation and Upgrades:
- Install new HVAC equipment and systems, ensuring compliance with safety standards and local codes.
- Upgrade and retrofit older systems for improved energy efficiency.
Energy Efficiency:
- Monitor and adjust building automation systems (BAS) to optimize energy usage while maintaining comfort.
- Assist in implementing energy-saving measures and evaluating their effectiveness.
Safety and Compliance:
- Maintain compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and district policies.
- Ensure the safe handling and disposal of refrigerants and other hazardous materials.
Documentation and Communication:
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance, inspections, and repairs.
- Communicate with district staff, vendors, and contractors regarding system performance and repair needs.
- Respond to work orders and emergency calls promptly.
General Maintenance Support:
- Assist other maintenance staff with plumbing, electrical, or general building repair tasks as needed.
- Participate in snow removal or other seasonal tasks as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
