Job Description
Summary:
Involved in engineering across throughout organization, including CAD, estimating, production cost analysis, tooling design, fabrication, machining and process improvement engineering. Must be a self-starter and be able to function autonomously with little supervision.Essential Duties:
Essential job duties for this position include the following items. Other duties must be performed as assigned or required. CAD Learning and becoming proficient in quoting and estimating manufactured products Closing feedback loop between job estimating and actual costs to accurately track profitability and determine cost saving opportunities. Research, spec out and select machining/fabrication equipment to create process improvements and generate cost savings. Such equipment may include the following: CNC machines, Plasma/Waterjet tables, 3-D printers Operate and maintain new equipment related to engineering; i.e. 3-D printer Implement new technology (as mentioned above) into the current process. Develop innovative solutions to new tooling production using new technologies Manage tooling production from drawing to finished product Work with outside vendors on tooling design as well as equipment maintenance and improvement to keep up with industry standards. Visit customers in the field to view, measure, and improve potential and current products in the field Aid Project Managers in material take offs and drawing for on-site and off-site projects Spend time on the shop floor and in the tooling shop to glean all useful information needed to develop a strong tooling design methodology.Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, the individual in this position must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skills and ability required.Education/Experience:
- CAD/CAM experience required
- 3-5 years of experience preferred
- CNC machine experience preferred
- 3-D printing experience preferred
- Cost analysis and cost reduction experience preferred
- Professionalism, diplomacy and tact to portray Company in a positive manner
- Ability to read, interpret and produce engineering drawings and blueprints
- Strong follow up skills
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Valid Driver's License
- must be able to produce on demand
Language Skills:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to define, analyze and solve problems.
- Ability to observe situations and information and to effectively collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Memory ability to recall relevant job/customer-related facts and details.
