Job Description
ICU Registered Nurse (RN) Position Summary This is a permanent direct hire opportunity for an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse. The ICU RN provides specialized nursing care to critically ill or unstable patients requiring advanced monitoring, life-support equipment, and complex medical interventions. ICU RNs work collaboratively with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced critical care environment. Key Responsibilities
- Assess, monitor, and document patient conditions, including vital signs, neurological status, cardiac rhythms, and response to treatment.
- Administer medications, blood products, IV therapies, and critical care treatments in accordance with physician orders and hospital protocols.
- Operate and monitor advanced medical equipment such as ventilators, infusion pumps, cardiac monitors, and dialysis machines.
- Recognize and respond rapidly to changes in patient condition, emergencies, and code situations.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans for critically ill patients.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care and treatment plans.
- Educate patients and family members regarding diagnoses, procedures, medications, and post-discharge care.
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records and clinical documentation.
- Ensure compliance with infection control standards, patient safety protocols, HIPAA regulations, and hospital policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, continuing education, and competency training. Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in applicable state.
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required/preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
- Critical care or ICU nursing experience preferred.
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, communication, and decision-making skills. Preferred Skills and Competencies
- Ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress situations.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems.
- Knowledge of critical care medications, hemodynamic monitoring, and emergency interventions.
