Pay Range:

$57.36 - $85.47 per hour Rush salaries are determined by many factors including, but not limited to, education, job-related experience and skills, as well as internal equity and industry specific market data. Summary:

The Senior Director of Stewardship will oversee, evaluate, and refine a program of comprehensive, effective stewardship for donors at all giving levels; will oversee and support the appropriate spending of all philanthropic funds, and will support the stewardship and further engagement of current and future trustees. The Senior Director of Stewardship manages a team of 3.5 FTEs and collaborates regularly with all members of the Philanthropy team. This position exemplifies the RUSH mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with RUSH policies and procedures.

Required Job Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
• Ten years' experience in Philanthropy or related field.
• Five years' experience successfully managing employees to achieve program goals.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills. ; Strong interpersonal and diplomatic skills required.
• Ability to work collaboratively and diplomatically with senior leadership from across the RUSH System.
• Ability to effectively lead a multi-faceted stewardship program that addresses the needs of a variety of constituencies.
• Ability to think strategically about audiences and plan stewardship activities to meet needs. Ability to adjust and enhance stewardship activities to recognize public phase campaign gifts.
• Ability to conceive and manage projects from inception to delivery, including tracking and reporting on progress and results.
• Ability to lead the development of annual budgets and manage projects within the budget framework. Ability to work well in a collaborative environment and problem solve challenges.
• Ability to articulate RUSH's mission and the campaign vision to a variety of constituencies with poise and diplomacy.

Preferred Job Qualifications:

• Strong understanding of accounting, finance and balance sheets preferred.
• Experience working with senior leaders (CEOs, presidents, provosts, deans, senior vice presidents) preferred.
• Knowledge and understanding of major gift and annual giving fundraising cycles preferred.

Lead and manage the transformational gift ($10M+) stewardship process from proposal to completion; working with senior leadership and colleagues across Philanthropy and Rush to acknowledge and recognize high profile gifts increasing support and giving to critical programs and establishing innovative initiatives heightening Rush's impact for constituents. In close collaboration with the President, Provost, and Deans, manage Rush's endowed faculty positions appointments, policies, and associated historical data. This includes Board resolutions, reports, investiture ceremonies, and special projects. Develop annual stewardship team strategic plans; Identify strategies for continued donor engagement; foster opportunities for ongoing cultivation during and outside campaign years. Work closely with Principal Gifts, Major Gifts and other gift officers to develop and manage the implementation of individualized stewardship and recognition strategies for all RUSH donors and prospects, including reports, photo opportunities, RUSH News stories, lunches and dinners with institutional leadership, donor walls and other activities. Leverage comprehensive donor survey data to identify gaps in existing stewardship processes and recommend mediation to fill gaps; Work directly with survey consultants to develop an actionable, multi-year plan to enhance and expand stewardship initiatives beyond RUSH's current reach; Identify enhanced recognition opportunities for donors at all giving levels. Develop and execute campaign-focused stewardship plans, including development and execution of campaign-focused reporting, campaign stewardship events and special campaign recognition opportunities for major and principal gift donors; Responsible for identifying key recognition opportunities to support best-in-class recognition of RUSH's most generous donors. Supervise the monitoring of all endowed philanthropic funds, ensuring that funds are spent in accordance with donor intent and in a timely manner, including endowed faculty positions (professorships, deanships, directorships, and faculty scholars) and all endowed scholarship funds supporting RUSH University. Work directly with RUSH Legal department to review and revise Donor Gift Agreement and related policy documents. Work directly with RUSH University President and Provost, as well and RUSH Marketing to evaluate and redesign the Endowed Faculty Position wall, honoring over 100 endowed professors, chairs, deans and program directors. Share half-time Development Associate and identify collaborative projects with Fund Management & Systems Team. Serve as stewardship subject matter expert in Office of Philanthropy CRM conversion; Develop and implement new stewardship report tracking process to forecast needed stewardship reports and allow for develop of thorough stewardship reports for all donors in a timelier manner. Collaborate with Financial Aid colleagues and Major Gift Officers to review and redesign scholarship reporting process, working to ensure earlier reporting timelines and more frequent stewardship touchpoints with scholarship donors. Manage the Office of Philanthropy acknowledgments process, including developing a suite of personalized acknowledgment letters for donors of $20,000+ and overseeing process for drafting and sending acknowledgment letters. Collaborate with Annual Giving, Alumni Relations, Road Home Program and others to development special acknowledgements for key campaigns (E.g., Doctors' Day, Nurses' Week, RUSH University Golf Outing, etc.) Leads cross-Philanthropy working group to analyze stewardship processes; Present recommendations for refinements to these processes to senior Philanthropy leadership; Represent and advocate for stewardship needs of Advancement Services, Alumni, Annual Giving and Major Gifts' team members and support their use of stewardship tools and systems; encourage and facilitate collaboration. Track donor signage needs, manage vendor relationships and oversee production and installation of new or updated donor recognition signage. Manages annual Stewardship team budget of $200,000.00.
