Competitive hourly rate, based on experience About the Student We are seeking an experienced and compassionate academic coach to support a bright student who is finishing 8th grade and preparing to enter high school this fall. After a particularly challenging academic and emotional school year, this student would benefit from a highly supportive tutor who can help rebuild confidence, strengthen academic skills, and ensure a successful transition into 9th grade. The student has ADHD and experiences significant executive functioning challenges. When tasks feel overwhelming, she may shut down or withdraw. She thrives with adults who are calm, encouraging, emotionally intelligent, and able to create a sense of safety and trust. Building a strong relationship will be just as important as the academic support itself. Primary Areas of Support Executive functioning and organization Math Science Writing High school readiness and transition support Confidence-building and accountability Mentorship and emotional encouragement Reading comprehension is relatively strong, though writing is an area of greater need. Ideal Candidate This is far more than a homework-help role. We are seeking someone who can serve as both an academic coach and mentor. The ideal tutor will be warm, structured, patient, and highly relational.

Strong candidates will have:

Experience working with middle or high school students Expertise supporting students with ADHD and executive functioning challenges The ability to teach across multiple subject areas A calm, encouraging, and nonjudgmental approach Strong relationship-building skills Experience supporting anxious, disengaged, or neurodivergent teens Family and Logistics The student splits time between two households located just a few miles apart, making scheduling and travel straightforward.
