Job Description

Nurse Practitioner (Independent Practice) - Urgent Care Clinic Job Overview Join our team at Ruckersville Urgent Care. We are seeking a dedicated, experienced, and patient-focused Nurse Practitioner licensed in the state of Virginia to join our growing urgent care team. This role is ideal for a provider who thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment and is confident managing a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions independently. The Nurse Practitioner will provide high-quality, evidence-based care to patients of all ages while collaborating with clinical staff to ensure efficient workflow and exceptional patient experiences. Candidates should possess strong clinical judgment, excellent bedside manner, and the ability to perform urgent care procedures with confidence and professionalism. Responsibilities Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with acute illnesses, injuries, and chronic condition exacerbations. Perform comprehensive patient assessments including medical history, physical examinations, and interpretation of diagnostic findings. Order and interpret laboratory tests, X-rays, and other diagnostic studies as appropriate. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and prescribe medications in accordance with Virginia regulations. Perform office-based procedures including suturing, incision and drainage, splinting, wound care, IV insertion, and injections. Provide care for patients across the lifespan including pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations. Accurately document patient encounters using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems while maintaining HIPAA compliance. Provide patient education regarding diagnoses, medications, follow-up care, and preventive health measures. Manage occupational medicine and Workers' Compensation cases when applicable. Support telehealth and triage services as needed. Collaborate with physicians, radiology, laboratory personnel, and clinical support staff to optimize patient care and clinic operations. Qualifications Active Virginia Nurse Practitioner license required. Board Certification as Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) preferred. DEA license and prescriptive authority required. Minimum urgent care, emergency medicine, family medicine, or acute care experience preferred. Strong procedural skills including suturing, splinting, incision and drainage, and phlebotomy. Ability to evaluate and manage patients independently in a high-volume clinical setting. Experience treating patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations. Proficiency with EMR systems and medical documentation. Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding preferred. Excellent communication, organizational, and clinical decision-making skills. Preferred Skills Experience in urgent care, emergency department, occupational medicine, or primary care settings. Familiarity with Workers' Compensation and occupational health evaluations. Ability to manage multiple patient encounters efficiently while maintaining high-quality care standards. Strong teamwork skills and commitment to compassionate patient-centered care.
