  • Industrial Manufacturing Facility American Flux & Metal LLC is seeking a motivated and dependable Maintenance Mechanic to support operations in a heavy industrial manufacturing facility.
Our facility operates furnaces, crushing equipment, cooling systems, material handling equipment, and other production machinery used in the manufacturing of critical materials. This position is ideal for someone with strong mechanical ability, practical troubleshooting skills, and experience working in an industrial environment. Responsibilities The Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production and facility equipment, including: Industrial furnaces and related components Crushing, screening, and material sizing equipment Cooling water systems, pumps, piping, valves, and heat exchangers Conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, shafts, rollers, belts, chains, and couplings Motors, pumps, seals, gaskets, filters, and mechanical assemblies Dust collection and general plant utility systems Basic fabrication repairs, guards, brackets, chutes, hoppers, and equipment supports Additional responsibilities include: Perform preventive maintenance on production equipment Diagnose equipment failures and make timely repairs Inspect machinery for wear, damage, and unsafe conditions Assist with equipment installations and modifications Use hand tools, power tools, grinders, drills, presses, pullers, and basic shop equipment Read equipment manuals, parts diagrams, and basic mechanical drawings Maintain maintenance records and communicate repair status to supervisors Work safely around high-temperature equipment, rotating machinery, and industrial hazards
Qualifications Required:
High school diploma or GED Hands-on mechanical maintenance experience Ability to troubleshoot and repair industrial equipment Working knowledge of bearings, belts, chains, gearboxes, pumps, valves, and motors Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, reach, and work in tight areas Willingness to work in a hot, dusty, noisy, and physically active manufacturing environment Strong attendance, reliability, and attention to safety
Preferred:
7-10 years of industrial maintenance experience Experience in manufacturing, metals, foundry, refractory, chemical, aggregate, or heavy industrial environments Basic electrical troubleshooting experience Ability to safely use a multimeter Familiarity with 120V, 240V, and 480V industrial systems Experience with motor starters, sensors, relays, limit switches, and VFDs Welding and fabrication experience Forklift experience
OSHA 10, OSHA
30, lockout/tagout, confined space, or hot work training Safety Expectations Candidate must be able to follow company safety procedures and work safely around: Furnaces and high-temperature equipment Rotating machinery Crushing equipment Lockout/tagout conditions Forklifts and overhead lifting Dust, fumes, noise, and hot work Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is not just a "building maintenance" person. We are looking for an industrial mechanic who can troubleshoot equipment, make practical repairs, fabricate when needed, and keep production equipment running safely and efficiently. A strong candidate will be dependable, mechanically sharp, safety-minded, and comfortable working in a hands-on industrial environment.
